I was channel surfing before bed the other night and just happened to catch this clip on The Soup on the E Network. Laughed till I cried because 1. I remember once trying (unsuccessfully) to stop my cocker spaniel from eating blueberry muffins and 2. it reminded me of all the problems I have with behavior modification as a teaching tool.
Here is a link to the clip (adult content - language).
ABA by another name? - I've seen the same look in many a child's' eye when they were just waiting for it to be over already. Now do we think this dog has learned not to eat cupcakes until given permission (self discipline)? Or just to wait out the trainer (compliance)?

Ugh ABA, ugh! Though I think if Egg went through 25 years of it he'd still eat the cke :0P
I'm with you. Thanks for the link. Barbara
I know, I know. You warned us it was funny. Unfortunately, that didn't stop me from trying to drink tea and watch that clip at the same time. The result was not pretty, but I'm STILL laughing at the look on that dog's face.
I, too, have seen that same look in classrooms and therapy groups. I think you're on to something with this comparison.
I get most of my recipes from other blogs, on mondays I post weekly menu's and often a recipe I'm trying and on Friday's I usually review a GF/CF food
As a SPED teacher I loathe ABA!!!!! I cringe when I see the outside therapists come in!!! Pure torture!!! Not a fan in the least!!! We've had better luck with just plain persistence and mothering....
